They don't call him Houston's Minister of Fun for nothing! Music and entertainment are Allen's professional and vocational passions. He's a proud 8th generation Texan who thinks Houston is just about perfect, and is glad to offer his advice and insights about the best ways to enjoy the town. And, if you have an hour or two, ask him about his poodles . . .
Cool Party Venues With the right music, you can have a party anywhere and people will have a blast. Allen has performed at a convenience store, on a flatbed trailer as it is towed through downtown (not part of a parade, although he's done that, too), a grocery store, a burger joint shaped like a root beer barrel, the shoe department at Nordstrom, and in his own driveway. Recognizing that those might not be the right venue for your next event, he offers these suggestions for more conventional, but still fun, party sites.
Discovery Green Concert Series Presented by Capital One Bank Houston's newest park boasts an awesome stage and natural amphitheater which has instantly become the location of choice for fabulous concerts under the stars. Bring your picnic baskets, blankets, and dancing shoes. The shows are always family-friendly, and the stage is just the right height so kids can get up close and personal with the bands. Parents can enjoy a beer or glass of wine while they watch their kids dance. Concerts start up again on Thursday nights in May and June, 2009. Follow the link above to see who's on the calendar.
Poodles Allen is the proud caretaker of two standard poodles, Judge and Lulu. When not providing feedback on Allen's dancing, they patrol the office, keeping it safe from squirrels.
