There is no doubt that Texas Johnny Brown, born in the Mississippi Delta just as the Great Depression began, is deeply steeped in the blues. After absorbing all the Delta could teach him, Johnny moved to Texas in the 1940s and turned into one of the great pillars of Houston blues. A mainstay on the legendary Duke/Peacock record label, he played and wrote songs with the greats, including Bobby "Blue" Bland and Junior Parker. Texas Johnny Brown and his band have traveled the world, from bayou juke joints to the National Mall as part of the Smithsonian's Folklife Festival. Johnny is a Houston and a blues treasure whose soul, rhythm, guitar-playing, and staying power will blow you away.
